Warriors will bounce back: Nyandoro

esromHARARE - Veteran Mamelodi Sundowns captain Esrom Nyandoro (Pictured) has expressed confidence that the Warriors will bounce back into contention for the race to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

Zimbabwe are in danger of missing out of the biennial soccer showcase after having missed the boat for the last two editions held in Ghana and Angola. The Warriors are in third place in Group A having only managed two points from three games. Cape Verde top the group on seven points followed by Mali with six points and Liberia in fourth place with one point.

Norman Mapeza’s charges will now have to win all their remaining games – reverse fixtures at home to Mali on June 5 and Liberia and an away visit to Cape Verde and hope that other results go their way to have any hope of making it to the finals which will be hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Nyandor,o who had initially been left out of the squad that travelled to Bamako, is back in the team and believes the mission to qualify is still possible.

“We are in a tricky situation after the defeat to Mali but we can still make it if we win against Mali at home. That will give the players confidence ahead of the remaining matches. Once we win this one, we will be on course to qualify,” said Nyandoro.

Other players who missed the trip to Bamako, right back Noel Kaseke of AC Omonia in Cyprus and left back Costa Nhamoinesu of Zaglebie Lubin in Poland, have recovered from injuries and have also been included in the squad. The Warriors are expected to go into camp this weekend.
