The locals, who had pooled funds together for the building of Dambudzo Clinic in ward 3 Shauke, failed some five years back and the structures they had erected had started being vandalised.
Runde RDC chairperson, Talitha Nyahondo, said council did not want to intervene in the initiative of the locals but has been implored to do so by the community.
She said the project would be completed before the end of next month.
“We have set aside $20 000 to replace window frames, door frames and the roof,” she said.
The remainder of the funds will be used to build staff houses, after which the clinic will be handed over to the ministry of Health and Child Welfare for administration.
The source of the money will be funds drawn from development levies charged on companies and mines operating in the area. Runde people presently travel 70km to get medical care in Zvishavane.
