Sushi King Kunenes gift for Zim

HARARE - South African multimillionaire businessman, Kenny Kunene aka Sushi King, proved to Zimbabwe why he is regarded as the A-list party monger following his star studded Zarfest concert at Borrowdale Race Course last Saturday.

Known for his expensive taste and lifestyle, ZAR club owner Kunenes sponsored concert featured American hip hop icons, including R n B sensation Ciara, Brooklyn (BKs) finest female rapper Lil Kim and Terror Squads costa nostra Fat Joe alongside DJ Scratch on the turntables.

The Kunene-sponsored Zarfest concert takes over from Prince Tendai Mupfurutsas Real Deal gig, which featured American-based Senegalese singer Akon and Jamaican dancehall superstar Sean Paul last year at the National Sports Stadium.

The Borrowdale Race Course was transformed into a smaller version of the famous Hollywood as the American Top Idols took turns to thrill a diversified Zimbabwean crowd in one of the biggest shows ever to feature several international music icons on one stage.

Skimpy clothes, designer wear, extras, expensive wines and top of the range makes lit up the city of bright lights on May 28 as the elitist hip hop fanatics drawn from all parts of the country thronged the area to see the highly powered show.

But the event was not spared from hiccups after producer-rapper Timbaland, who was part of the cast, failed to appear after he was stranded in Bermuda when his private jet experienced some technical problems.

Kunene personally promised to make it up to the disappointed fans and is going to try and convince Timbaland, who was very apologetic, to make his way to Zimbabwe.

For someone who spent $100 000 on his 40th birthday, drives a 911 Porsche Carrera, GTS Porsche Cayenne and a BMW 1Series, and lives in a mansion, Zimbabweans might expect anything from the flamboyant businessman.
