President Tsvangirai yesterday paid his condolences to the Tekere family in Borderview, Mutare, following the death of the national hero, Edgar Tekere on Tuesday. He was accompanied by several senior MDC officials who included councillors from the Mutare City Council.
Before visiting the Tekere family, President Tsvangirai said Mr Tekere was a leader who had a value system that was largely democratic and will always be remembered for speaking strongly and frankly against corruption and the excesses of those in leadership.
Personally, I have lost a friend. He was a true revolutionary and the country has lost a true hero and a gallant son of the soil, he said.
