Farai Gapara, 22, and his young brother were found guilty of murdering their 53-year-old grandmother, Jennipher Sharikira, by High Court Judge, Justice Francis Bere on Wednesday.
The two pleaded not guilty to the murder charges but were convicted due to overwhelming evidence. In their defence, the two said their intention was only to discipline their grandmother for practicing witchcraft.
Bere said the two were facing a serious crime and a lengthy custodial sentence was justified to deter would be offenders.
