Man gets 56 year sentence for armed robbery

A man will serve the next 56 year of his life behind bars for robberies he committed in Maphisa, Kezi and Matobo.

Sydney Sibanda of Pumula East was charged together with his accomplices Andile Ncube (25), Sifelani Dube also 25 years old of Nyamandlovu area, and Xolani Dube (35) of Lobengula West.

It is the state’s case that from August 2009 the trio targeted business areas, bottle stores and schools.

In Kezi they went to Marinoha Primary school and broke into teachers cottages. They threatened to kill and assault them and robbed the teachers of money, cellphones, clothing and various other property.

They struck again at St Anna High school at Malaba business centre were they broke into a bottle store and stole liquor, cigarettes and money.

In Matobo, they pounced on Bazha business centre were they stole groceries, cash and various other clothing items belonging to the employees.

The notorious trio was arrested last week following a tip off.
