Shot in the arm for Mangwe RDC

Mangwe Rural District Council received a shot in the arm from the Zimbabwe National Road Authority (ZINARA), which recently paid out $62 000 for road rehabilitation.

The development, which was confirmed by the council’s chief executive officer, Nketha Dlamini, will result in the maintenance of several roads in Mpandeni, Marula and Zimnyama.

The funds came at a time when the road network was virtually inaccessible, prompting maize transporters to shun delivering grain to neighbouring villages.

“The funds came at the right time and will definitely improve our roads though tow grading might slow the process. For this project, we are using private and public partnership because it is cheaper than hiring a contractor,” said Dlamini.

The RDC has also partnered with members of the community who are engaged in pothole filling and bush clearing.
