John Mashiri (43) of Mutsvanga village under Chief Ndima was last week brought before Mutare magistrate courts to face murder charges.
Magistrate Noah Gwatidzo denied Mashiri bail and remanded him in custody.
It is a State case led by prosecutor Lloyd Kurehwatira that on June 20, 2005 at Mutsvangwa village in Chimanimani, Mashiri went to Linda Chipanga`s house and forcibly opened the door of her bedroom where she was sleeping with his two children.
After gaining entry into the room, Mashiri struck Chipanga with a sharp object on the head several times and set the house on fire killing the three before he fled to South Africa.
Mashiri returned home last month and was arrested by police after a tip off by members of the public who had identified him fleeing the crime scene.
