We should hear from Robert Mugabe about gukurahundi while he still lives.

In `closing down’ my longstanding monologue thru my Internet Blog (on historical and analytical commentary on Zimbabwe), I came across an old (but not yet out of date) response by ‘Anonymous’ to my entry of December 2008 The comment indicated that the writer was/is close to ZANU (PF) spin doctors. I had not read it (see below) until this month of July 2011. The message infers that I should not blame Robert Mugabe for the massacre of the Ndebeles (Gukurahundi) shortly afte

Now, with Mugabe nearing the end of his life, it would seem vital that he should, himself, give evidence of his innocence (if necessary through his trusted spokespersons). History will not forgive him unless his own testimony is made believable.

Here is my message for ‘Anonymous and those who think like him/her.

It is headed `For ‘Anonymous’. re your response/comment upon my Blog of Dec 20 2008’

I am sorry it has taken so long to get back to you on this – I have had to deal with a huge upheaval in my personal life.

You suggest that somebody other than Mugabe is responsible for Gukurahundi:

I wish you would enlighten us as to who this might be.

COME ON, `ANONYMOUS' – BE BRAVE! MAKE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AVAILABLE AND FOOL-PROOF IF YOU REALLY WANT TO EXONERATE MUGABE.

You must know that I had good friends like Chief-Justice Enoch

Dumbutshena who headed an Enquiry into the massacre of Ndebeles. He was Shona (from Zvimba) and would have been as fair as he was as a Judge of the High Court. His report was never published.

No, Anonymous! Joseph Msika, Eddison Zvobgo, Willie Musarurwa, Joshua Nkomo himself and many other nationalist leaders were once my friends (also all dead now). They wept for the terrible fate that befell Matabeleland.

Who would trust Nkala until he posthumously spills the beans (as he has promised he will do)

The truth will out and living witnesses MUST testify SOON because there is no other way you can persuade non-cohorts of RGM that as the Supreme commander of the military he was NOT `the one' who sent in the 5th Brigade to kill his Ndebele rivals who were in opposition to his leadership.
