According to people who have visited the prophet at the bus station, the militia are attempting to control the long winding queues, and have even been demanding bribes to fast track those who want to see the prophet sooner.
A vendor at the teeming bus terminus said that the militia clash with the prophet who does not demand staggering amounts of money in the way the thugs do. “Known guys from Chipangano are trying to control Amai Praise’s patients.
They demand payment from people and also stand on queues and then sell the places to latecomers,” said Lovemore Mapfeni.According to vendors whose business has also improved because of the prophet’s presence, militia members demand that people pay as much as US$20 to see the prophet.
“People are being milked by members of Chipangano, since there are scared they just obey the Zanu (PF) members who are often violent,” said Trust Bande.
