Don’t compare me with Peter: Musona

Warriors chief striker, Knowledge Musona, says it is unfair for people to compare him with the legendary former Zimbabwe captain Peter Ndlovu.

Musona told a South African soccer magazine Kick Off that he is far from matching Ndlovu, who illuminated the domestic soccer scene with his blistering pace and skills that eventually took him to England as a raw teenager in 1991. He played for Coventry and was at one time compared to the legendary George Best.

Ndlovu has hung up his boots after a glittering career during which he led the Warriors to two African Cup of Nations finals in 2004 and 2006. But the rise of Musona, who has already scored three of the six goals the Warriors have scored in the current 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, has inevitably led people to draw comparisons. Many fans say the 21-year-old striker is the heir to Ndlovu's throne.

Musona has signed for German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim after two seasons in South Africa, where he left an indelible mark with his skills and goal scoring form.

But he maintains that it is unfair for people to compare him with Peter.

"We all know what Peter has done and I think it is not fair for people to draw comparisons yet. Peter was a great player and it will be a big achievement if I can scale the same heights. But I can not stop people debating about this."
