Fifa aims to unlock value in girl child sport

World soccer governing body Fifa is set to conduct a Com-Unity seminar in Zimbabwe in November in a bid to unlock value in girl child sport.

The event, to last four days starting on November 1, will be organised by the Zimbabwe Football Association with the world soccer governing body funding it.

Fifa have already sent their representative Florie Ramogodi to assess the progress ZIFA have made in setting up structures for the seminar.

According to Ramogodi, the high profile seminar is meant to raise awareness among stake holders and help in developing teams so that they will do well in Fifa tournaments.

"The seminar will be run by FIFA and will bring in various stakeholders including business people, media and the public and is meant to unlock value in girl child sport. It will focus on women’s football. The good thing is that this is already up and running in Zimbabwe. The seminar will also focus on other FIFA projects such as the Under-17 and Under-20 teams," said Ramogodi.

Topics to be addressed include grassroots football development programmes and national teams, coaches, players and referees.

The programme will start with Malawi and Tanzania in October and move to Zambia and Zimbabwe hosting in November.
