Games: Mozambican boxing, volleyball, basketball wins

At the Tenth All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambican boxer Quimalto Bufetela on Sunday won his round in the 60 kilo category, against a Cameroonian opponent by 24 points to 13.

Mozambique also scored a victory in the women’s volleyball tournament. The Mozambican team beat their opponents from Seychelles by three sets to two.

This is some compensation for the Mozambican team’s defeat in its first match, played on Friday, when it was beaten by Nigeria by three sets to none.

In the other Friday volleyball matches, Kenya beat Seychelles (3-0), Algeria beat Botswana (3-1) and Cameroon beat Senegal (3-1).

The basketball tournament also began on Friday, when, in Group A, the Mozambican women’s team defeated Zimbabwe by 73 points to 37.

Also in Group A, Nigeria beat Algeria by 48 points to 40, and the Democratic Republic of Congo beat Kenya by 55 to 52.

In Group B of the women’s basketball, Ivory Coast beat Mali (68-28), Angola beat Senegal (56-52) and Rwanda beat Cameroon (60-56).
