Joint effort to rebuild huts

The Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee has resolved that all villagers from Nyambeya should assist in the reconstruction of MDC supporters’ huts which were burned down by suspected Zanu (PF) militia early this year.

The resolution was made during a closed door meeting at Nhedziwa business centre between JOMIC and supporters of the MDC-T whose properties were destroyed during the attack. The meeting, which was chaired by MDC –T JOMIC representative, Elton Mangoma, was also attended by Oppah Muchinguri (Zanu (PF)), Nicholas Goche (Zanu (PF)), Priscilla Misihairambwi (MDC) and district and provincial representatives of the three political parties in the inclusive government.

The meeting also resolved that the victims should immediately return to the area.

“During the meeting, a district JOMIC comprising of Chief Mutambara, Cashel police and representatives of political parties was also set up to facilitate the smooth return of the victims who have been staying with relatives since the incident occurred. Most of the victims told JOMIC to guarantee their security before their returned,” said a source who attended the meeting.
