League rejects PSL proposal

Division One leagues are rejecting a proposal by the Premier Soccer League to demote two teams instead of four at the end of the season.

The Premier Soccer League is reported to have met in Harare where they proposed to demote two teams from the topflight league with the other two being promoted from the lower division one leagues in the country.

Northern region secretary Sweeney Mushonga said they will not accept the proposals by the topflight league. "We will not accept that. We have just heard it but we want to make it clear that we won't buy the idea." said Mushonga.

At the start of the season, the topflight league management headed by Twine Phiri had resolved to demote four teams as usual but appeared to have had a change of heart.

Currently Zimbabwe Saints, Kiglon, Shooting Stars and Shabanie Mine are involved in relegation battles.
