UK tourist funds boreholes

A UK-based tourist, Peter Flawn, has funded a $20 000 borehole drilling project at Mkoba Primary School, ending 10 years of operating without running water at the educational institution.

The donation was channelled through a private hospitality organisation, Antelope Park, which also spearheaded the project.

The school authorities had devised a mechanism whereby pupils would bring their own containers of water to school every day.

Mkoba Primary School has 2 154 pupils – many of whom walk extremely long distances every day in pursuit of an education.
