Chinese stake claim in printing industry

A Chinese firm has taken over The Label Man (Private) Limited in a move that has seen the East-Asian country increasing its stake in Zimbabwe's fast-growing printing and packaging industry.

The Label Man is a printing firm based in Harare that produces self-adhesive labels.

"The Chinese are bring in cheap printing machines which can print a huge tonnage of material in a very short space of time and at cheaper rates than us,” said manager of The Label Man, Rosemarie Callaghan. "This is killing our industry and we need to do something about it."

The Label Man is a subsidiary of PacPrint (Private) Limited, based in Harare.
