Maurtian companies plan to invest in Mozambique

Two Mauritian companies have announced their intention to invest 1.45 billion rupees (about 50 million US dollars) in agricultural projects in Mozambique.

Compagnie des Trois Amis plans to invest 600 million rupees in rice cultivation over an area of 4,000 hectares, whilst British American Investment intends to invest 850 million rupees in the production of maize, sunflower and soya bean.

Last year it was announced that Compagnie des Trois Amis had established a partnership with two Indian companies, Supreme Agro Projects and Prama Consulting Services, to grow rice in Mozambique.
