DA urges abused Zimbos to testify

The Democratic Alliance has urged victims of human rights abuses to give evidence, following continued allegations of abuse by SA Department of Home Affairs and police.

The Shadow Minister for International Relations, Kenneth Sililo Mubu, said: “In 2010, I was part of a DA delegation that visited Zimbabwe to learn first hand the abuses going on.

We came back with a sense that indeed lawlessness was rife, mostly perpetrated by agents of the state.”

“But no-one has shown that indeed our officials are abusing them. I urge anyone with information that will assist me to investigate to come forward.”

A Zimbabwean refugee died after sustaining serious wounds after being assaulted by a security guard at the DHA office in Cape Town recently.

Last year a Zimbabwean man was stoned to death in Polokwane by a gang of 20, including a senior ANC member.
