Nyoni hopeful to win contract extension

UK-based utility player, Cecil Nyoni, is hopeful of winning a contract extension at N-Power Championship side, Sheffield Wednesday. The Bulawayo-born player spent the last two seasons on loan at lower-tier sides, Boston united and Frickley Athletic, but hopes for a change of fortunes in the coming season.

“My aim is to earn a new contract at Sheffield and feature in more first team games,” the 19-year-old said. Ambitious of representing his country at national level, he has enjoyed game time at Northern Premier League club, Frickley Athletic, where he scored his only goal.

Nyoni, who grew up in Gwanda, moved to England in 2003 and joined “The Owls” shortly before his 16th birthday, after he was spotted playing for local side, Middlewood Rovers.
