Addressing the crowd at an Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe meeting on Friday, Tsvangirai said: “Experience has shown that meddling in technocrats’ activities has contributed towards poor service delivery and run down infrastructure. Town planners should be given free space to execute their duties without Politicians should know the boundaries.”
He blamed current challenges faced by local authorities on poor planning on the part of the central government.
The PM said government planning institutions should move with the times and plan beyond coming generations. Most local authorities around the country are struggling to provide adequate service delivery as their infrastructure is overwhelmed by high demand.
