Price has revealed that he wants to fight the best in Britain saying Chisora is the ideal opponent. "A fight with Chisora would create interest and if the fans wanted to see it, I'd be happy to take part," says Price.
He added,"I feel I can beat anyone on my day and Dereck Chisora is no different. I've sparred a lot with him and we've had some good sessions. It would make a good fight, but I would be 100% confident of beating him."
Price is looking forward to his first title defence since taking over the belt from Tyson Fury who vacated both the British and Commonwealth titles on his way to winning the World Boxing Organisation’s Inter-continental title.
Price’s promoter Frank Maloney has already opened negotiations with Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren for the fight set for later this year or early next year.
Price, a former Commonwealth gold and Olympic Games silver medallist has won 11 of his 13 professional fights by knockouts.
Maloney is understood to be discussing a possible deal with broadcaster BoxNation, which screened the Haye-Chisora bout and whose major shareholders include Chisora's promoter Frank Warren.
Chisora is just coming from a money spinning fight against David Haye in which he was knocked out in the fifth round of their scheduled 10 round contest. The Zimbabwean born boxer was sent to the canvas twice, forcing the referee Luis Pabon to stop the fight realising Chisora could not take more.
Chisora was born in Mbare, Harare, on 29 December 1983 and moved to Finchley, London in 1999 at the age of 16.
Before turning professional Chisora had 20 amateur fights winning a four nations gold medal and the ABA Super heavyweight title in 2006. He has fought 16 professional fights winning 12 and losing four.
