Ziyambi occupies commercial farm

Tony Borlas, owner of Aldern Farm in Stapleford, packed his bags this morning to make way for High Court Judge Florence Ziyambi to occupy it.

The workers led by the farm manager were busy loading their belongings onto a truck, their faces sullen and refusing to divulge information regarding their destination.

“I cannot comment anything because I don’t want to get into trouble with the authorities. Experience has taught me that issues of this nature are very sensitive and I don’t want to put my life in danger. There is nothing my boss can do in these circumstances because the future occupant is one who holds a higher office in government and just brought one thing she said made her the legal owner – the offer letter,” said the manager who declined to be named for security reasons.

An attempt to get a comment from Ziyambi regarding the vacation of Borlas proved futile as her mobile phone was unreachable. The farm manager said while most people believed farm invasions would stop with the advent of the inclusive government in 2009, it appeared Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai had no power to stop them. He said the situation was dire given the noise around the indigenisation policy spearheaded by Zanu (PF) and driven by Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.
