Bosso in fight for Africa

Highlanders have launched a fresh appeal for a return to continental football, from which they were banned early this season.

The PSL log-toppers, banned after they withdrew from the CAF Confederations Cup in the preliminary round, have written to the continental body to have their three year ban lifted.

Chairman Peter Dube said Bosso were now awaiting a response from CAF, hoping for the best result. The rules are clear that a team cannot withdraw after the draw has been conducted and Bosso were also fined $1,500.

Dube hopes the issue will be put on the agenda at the next CAF Assembly meeting before the 2013 competitions begin.

Highlanders currently lead the Castle Lager Premiership and with the top two teams qualifying to play in the CAF Champions League, events on the ground suggest that the Bulawayo giants along with their Harare counterparts, Dynamos could qualify.

The team that finishes third also plays in the Confederations Cup and on current form there is no way Highlanders can finish out of the top three.

Caf have given the Zimbabwe Football Association up to November 30 to register clubs that will represent Zimbabwe in the two tournaments, and the Bosso case has to be resolved way before that deadline.

Highlanders were registered to play in the Confederations Cup by ZIFA, despite the mother body having not received confirmation from the club on participation.
