This is good news as the horses will add extra slots to the races at Borrowdale whose fields were getting fewer and fewer as time moved.
Turning to the events on the field, a week after winning the 1 200 metre HIRB Gold Sprint, Robin Bruss-owned Penthouse returns to action on Sunday in the 1 600 metre Champions Fillies Stakes , an event reserved for female horses.
Penthouse, which came out tops in the HIRB sprint ahead of Whole Kaboodle and Officer Class the last time around at Borrowdale Race Course, wiill have Derreck David on the saddle in an event that has drawn eight nominations.
On current form, the Susan Gail Odendaal-trained horse starts off as favourite as this time the trainer fields the highest number of contestants in the race, sending out Gossamer and Bo Jally.
There are only three Zimbabwean-bred horses in the eight team line up, with Lisa Harris fielding two of them, Janey and Dalliance. She, however, has a choice on whom to ride which horse as she has Quinton Riddle and Randall Simons.
The other Zimbabwean horse comes from the Kirk Swanson yard in the form of Run Feast. Sebastien D’Aquino’s Detectorist and Double Date fill up the remaining places.
After the Champion Fillies Stakes, there will be only one race left on the 2012 horse racing calendar, the Zimbabwe Challenge, which will take centre stage at Borrowdale on 15 December.
