She made the revelation during a ceremony at Midlands Children’s Home today where she donated Christmas presents and other goodies to the institution.

The goods, valued at about $ 5 000 included blankets, biscuits, clothes, food hampers and seed maize among others.

“My heart bleeds for children in the country. My wish is to ensure that all of them (children) in country gets free education,” she said, much to applause of delegates who included top ZANU (PF) women officials led by State Minister in Vice President John Nkomo’s office, Flora Bhuka.

“We are not doing enough to cater for the children. They need to be supported and free education will ensure that they are taken ahead,” she added.

The First Lady said targeted sanctions on Mugabe and scores of influential Zanu (PF) lieutenants as well as companies aligned to the party should be lifted and vowed that there would be no letting up on indigenisation involving forcing foreign owned companies to cede 51 percent shareholding to locals .

“My child, Robert Junior, is a professional basketball player. He wishes to go to USA to play the game but he can’t because of sanctions. So we are saying let the foreigners also taste their medicine. There is no going back on indigenisation,” said Grace Mugabe.

In the past Mugabe has used the education sector as a vehicle for campaigns donating computers to most schools in the country including those in rural areas with no electricity.

The party’s theme for this year’s conference is: Indigenise, Empower, Develop; Create Employment.
