Nyahora to defend title

Long-distance runner Rutendo Nyahora is confident of successfully defending her Nkulumane Spar 10km Fun Run road race title this weekend.

The race is run to and forth between Nkulumane Spar and Bellevue Spar and the 23-year-old said she would add the accolade to her recent medal haul.

“I have been working hard at training and my good form will work to my advantage. This trophy will be a Christmas present to all my fans,” said Nyahora.

Winners of this year’s competition in the senior men and women’s category will each pocket R5,000, R3,000 for the runners-up while the third and fourth placed athletes will get R1,500 and R500.

Winners of the junior men’s and women’s section and athletes in wheelchairs will get R1,500 for the top spot, R1,000 for the runners up. Third finishers will go home R750 richer.

The year has proven to be the most productive for Nyahora, who has scooped more than five medals overall.
