Chiadzwa, who successfully made a High Court appeal to repossess his equipment in November, said he was very disappointed by the way police in his home area handled the matter.
The equipment comprises of an excavator (front-end loader), tipper truck, jig machine, a 5,000l water tank and toolbox.
Police seized the tools following his arrest for breaching the Precious Stones Act. Chiadzwa lamented that most of his equipment was vandalised when he reclaimed it from police custody.
“The equipment had stayed with the police for more than three years. They never compensated me. I am actually in the process of trying to sue the police because that is commercial equipment,” said Chiadzwa.
“I have spent about $40 000 on the tipper and TLB (excavator). I am trying to recover what spent and what I lost during the period.”
