Maphosa (60) w is the Zapu’s women wing provincial treasurer and a member of the Council of Elders. She told The Zimbabwean that Dube accused her of being a Zanu (PF) agent before beating her up.
“I joined Zapu long before Dube was born and I will never allow anyone to manipulate people to push his agenda,” said Maphosa.
During a disputed SA provincial congress in 2011 Dube, who refused to speak to this newspaper, allegedly assaulted Youth Secretary for Administration Future Msebele. The case was not reported.
Zapu’s provincial spokesperson Busani Bhalagwe and Diaspora spokesperson Luke Sayi were not available for comment. Sources within the party accused Dube of trying to dethrone the incumbent provincial chairperson, Dingilizwe Mpondo. “We all know that there are underground operations spearheaded by Dube and Sayi to get rid of Mpondo and all those trying to push for this province to work. Dabengwa and Sayi have turned the party into their own private mini-shop,” said the source.
