MC: Don’t you think you’re too young to make it in a party composed mainly of over 70s?
VM: I believe youth is what is needed for the country to develop. I am the same age as Vice President Joice Mujuru was when she assumed office as an MP and Minister. I look up to her a lot. The political journey has been filled with ups and downs but I thank The Lord for my mentors who always stand by me always when the going gets tough.
The need to participate and give my opinion and serve the people inspired me to join politics in 2006 when I was in lower six at Girls High School. I was also in the Harare Junior Council.
JM: Why are you contesting and what are your chances of winning?
VM: I am participating in these elections on behalf of the youths. I believe I have shown that the generational gap in my party can and must be bridged so as to groom a generation of young leaders who have the nation at heart
JM: What have you done for the Constituency so far and what are you promising?
VM: I have set up a youth football team and helped facilitate the training of youths so that they may access funds at Central African Bank (CABS). Through the youth fund I am also making efforts to sink a borehole at the flats located along Quezon Road and making effects to engage the relevant authorities to fix our roads and improve our security.
MC: Considering that your party struggled in 2008 elections, are you confident that it will win the upcoming elections?
VM: It is my strongest conviction that my party Zanu (PF) will perform resoundingly well in the upcoming elections. I say so because every Zimbabwean has noted without doubt that the party has them and their interests at heart and that is what the country needs.
MC: Coming to the issue of the so-called Zanu (PF) rebels who have now filed nomination papers as independent candidates don’t you see them dividing votes against your party?
VM: It is not good to call a person with her right to contesting a rebel – they are independent candidates. Everyone has a right to contest, but for the sake of the progress of the party, I think we should unite behind one candidate in each and every constituency.
