The “Smiling Assassin”, who also scored on debut when he a first arrived at the Naturena giants in 2009, did the same for his second coming, when he scored in the 67th minute, beating Bloemfontein Celtic 4-1 to retain the trophy they won last season.
Musona’s countryman, Willard Katsande, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Kaizer Motaung Jnr, scored the other goals.
Instead of joining the hype already created by the media ahead of the 2013/14 season, Musona said recently that he would do his talking on the pitch. He made it known, however, that his intention was to do better than his last stay, which saw him score 15 league goals in 28 matches to win the Golden Boot award and a contract with German Bundesliga side, TSG1899 Hoffenheim.
“I had a great time when I played here in 2009-2011. The fans and everyone associated with the gold and black made me feel welcome,” said the Zimbabwe national team hit man. “I am looking forward to playing well with my teammates. I do not have much to say. I will do my talking on the pitch.”
Both sides were jaded before Musona scored Chiefs’ third goal, but after it, the Soweto giants woke up and showed the rest of the PSL sides that the double of last season could have been the beginning of a long period of dominance.
With players like Tshabalala, Katsande, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Kingston Nkhatha and Bernard Parker playing alongside him this season, Musona would really outperform his last stay at Chiefs, if he is still the same man Chiefs shipped to Germany two seasons ago
