The paper, which commenced its distribution three months ago, is said to be owned by Jonathan Moyo and is edited by former Zimpapers man, Mabasa Sasa, from his Namibian base.
“I can’t read about history week after week,” said Michael Dube, a Fort Hare University student. “It’s sad that Zanu (PF) and its leadership are taking us for granted. They think distorting history and trying to brainwash us will make them stay in power. Gone are the old days, I am happy that nowadays we can tune in to the internet or watch various TV stations rather than read a paper full of lies.”
Tinashe Ncube, a freelance journalist, castigated The Southern Times Newspaper as a Zanu (PF) project meant to confuse people.
“They are trying to brainwash African people residing in SA into believing that it’s a party of good governance. I am glad that many people don’t give attention to this propaganda,” he said.
Analyst, Masimba Dube, said The Southern Times would not influence diasporans who were determined to achieve democracy.
“The current crop of young people is educated and they understand matters,” he said.

I hope Africans don’t read that paper, otherwise they will wise up to how we are exploiting them. Hehehehehe
