All set for golf tourney

The Hillside Golf Club will next weekend host the Hillside Masters Amateur golf tournament, with more than 100 golfers expected. The club successfully hosted the Nomads golf tournament last month, which drew 150 participants from Southern Africa.

The upcoming tournament will see more than 100 amateurs fight for the Zimbabwe Golf Association order of merit points.

Some of the country’s top amateur’s golfers set to take part are Clive Nguru, Christian Mbanga and Mutare-based Biggie Chibvuri. The three golfers (Nguru, Mbanga and Chibvuri) will represent Zimbabwe at the African qualifiers in Swaziland next month. The President of Manicaland Golf Union Takaedza Mabikacheche said he was expecting a successful tournament saying all the country’s top five amateur golfers will compete at the tournament.

“The Zimbabwe Golf Association order (ZGA) of merit points are used to select golfers to represent the country at various tournaments outside the country and others we host,” he said.
