I have not been circumcised and most of my friends have. They know that I am not circumcised and they are putting pressure on me. I know what they say the positives are and that includes reducing chances of contracting HIV. I am just comfortable with the way I am, that is the simple reason I don’t want to go through the process and my friends don’t seem to understand. I just got married and they are still single and my wife is okay with me. What do you think? – Gerald

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you feeling okay as you are. Yes they say circumcision reduces chances of contracting HIV, but that is for people who have more than one partner or a partner that is unfaithful. You are married now and what both of you need to do is stay faithful to one another and you will be safe from HIV and AIDS.
What your friends think of you is nothing but their opinion; it does not make it a fact. You need to start a life where you and your wife make big decisions. You are married now and the opinion of your wife is what you need to be seeking more often on important issues – rather than that of your friends. Most of the teens were afraid of circumcision because of peer pressure and the thought that it is painful. The best we can do to ease what kids can feel is that tell them the importance of circumcision and explain the process to prevent then to have misconception about circumcision.
