I am a young girl aged 22 and I am caught in between choosing a job and furthering my studies. I recently got a place confirmed for a degree programme to study law at a local university and I have just started a job that will give me experience for the diploma certificate I graduated for last year. Should I now go for gaining experience or furthering my studies? Please help me decide. – Gracious
Dear Gracious
Congratulations on your success. I am proud of you for valuing education and I think furthering your studies will be a really noble idea. With jobs as scarce as they are in Zimbabwe today I can understand your reluctance to give up your job in favour of further studies. But as you have already been offered a place to study you may as well take it up.
I know it is tempting to go for work and earn some money and gain some experience but I think you will make much more money when you are more qualified. Weigh your options and also see the possibilities of taking up both work and studies, I understand there are part time programmes in most universities, you can kill two birds with one stone if you are up for it. That may be possible if you dedicate your time and make sure that you are focused on what you want in life. – Aunty Lisa
