I am a young lady aged 28. I work very hard and I am very innovative in coming up with great ideas at work. But I get demoralised when my bosses don’t appreciate my work or my efforts. It is like they never notice and all they do is criticise me, behind my back for that matter. I am now confused whether I need to look for another job and move on because this is not really helping me. What do you think I should do? – Busy Bee
Dear Busy Bee
Your boss is not helping matters – it is wrong for him to criticise you behind your back. Criticism is good for you to grow but it needs to be constructive and it needs to come to you and not for you to hear it through office gossip. You need an environment where people believe in you and urge you on.
However you cannot quit now, hang in there. The environment may not be encouraging your progress, but it is an important phase that will help you develop a thick skin. People who will be eager to fight against your success and pull you down will always be there, so you need to keep your focus. – Aunty Lisa
