Msebele, who recently filled the post left vacant by Mehluli Moyo last October, failed to address a gathering organised to honour former party leader, Joshua Nkomo, in Yeoville on Saturday, as he had to be rushed to hospital.
“I suspect that someone spiked my drink and I lost consciousness for about eight hours or so,” he said on Monday. A member of the opposition party’s security department confirmed that they had instituted investigations into the matter, which they suspect to be the work of “political enemies”.
“My family is so shocked they suggested I should quit politics. A family meeting has been called to discuss my future in politics,” he added, but vowed to continue fighting. “My task is to lead my party in mass mobilisation as some Zimbabweans are not aware of our existence. We will soon be visiting colleges and universities to explain our ideology to the students.
“We will introduce a different political approach. Youths have been used as weapons of violence, but we want to usher in a new era where the young people will refuse to be used or bought by individuals. A new cadre is to be developed – youths who can engage in meaningful debate. Workshops and political schools will be our focus in developing a complete cadre.”
His plan is for Zapu youths to play a pivotal role in the formulation of policy, with particular attention to devolution of power.

Seriously this guy, wants the world to believe the lies he is saying. How can one be unconscious for eight hours ? Once a human being is unconscious for that long, brain damage is the result. The guy is now blaming political enemies! Which political revival feels threatened by a dead donkey that is ZAPU. When ZAPU lost the free elections of 1980, ZAPU should have implemented a reflection of what went wrong.
Instead over the years, we have heard them blame tribalism for ZAPU’s loss.
It never seizes to amaze me, how these day dreamers come across. If your party is still unknown as you say after 53 years of existence, what hope is there in 2014. Yes, some of us happen to know a bit of history.ZAPU was formed in 1961.
