I am a woman aged 25 and I have been married for two years now, I have been calling my husband Daddy for the sack of our two-year-old son and also as a sign of respect and love for him. But I am fed up with my maid who is also now calling him Daddy. It is to me in other words like saying sweetie and having my maid saying that as well is unacceptable. You are not over-reacting at all. Calling your husband Daddy has a special meaning to you and your husband and you have every reason to freak out when your maid says that. But you need to understand that she may be saying it innocently and out of respect for your husband.
If it makes you uncomfortable you simply need to explain to her and let her know the way you want her to address your husband. Your relationship with the maid should be clear and she needs to have things spelt out clearly, otherwise you will end up swopping roles, with her taking charge. The important thing is to stay calm and deal with the matter professionally and unemotionally. – Aunty Lisa
