Grace exposes CIO cameras

The Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) must be furious with Grace Mugabe for blowing their cover and exposing their illegal activities. She inadvertently confirmed the use of hidden cameras when she referred to the clandestine filming of vice president Joice Mujuru “inappropriately dressed” in her own house.

The filming was obviously done in the VP’s bedroom – presumably by CIO cameras. Analysts said the spies were expecting to film a bedroom romp in the hopes of embarrassing Mujuru into resigning before the Zanu (PF) congress next month.

“Remember what happened to Archbishop Pius Ncube a few years ago. He too was filmed in his bedroom by CIO hidden cameras. He has never been heard of since. Also MDC-T president Morgan Tsvangirai was caught in a honey-trap set and filmed by the CIO,” said one political analyst.

It was common knowledge that since the early 80s President Robert Mugabe has kept secret files on all his ministers and senior government officials, which could be dusted off if any individual was silly enough to break ranks with the ruling party, said another analyst. “This is what keeps ministers and officials toeing Mugabe’s line. They could be jailed for their activities, which are well known to Mugabe.”

Responding to the ZBC coverage of the matter Senator David Coltart said it was pertinent to recall the provisions of Section 57 of the Zimbabwe Constitution, which states that every person has the right to privacy, including the right not to have their home entered without their permission, and not to have the privacy of their communications infringed.

Section 51 is also relevant – the right to human dignity which states: “Every person has inherent dignity in their private and public life, and the right to have that dignity respected and protected.”

“An unacceptable line has been crossed,” said Coltart.
