Events expert to visit Zim

An Australian expert on meetings and exhibitions, Gary Grimmer, is set to tour Zimbabwe from 14-20 February.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is facilitating Grimmer’s meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) visit, which will see him conduct site inspections of conference facilities and incentive properties in Harare and Victoria Falls.

The inspections, according to a ZTA statement, are meant to assess the country’s potential to host large conferences and incentive group.

Grimmer is the chief executive officer of Gaining Edge Consultancy firm based in Australia that assisted in the establishment of the National Conventions Bureau (NCB) within ZTA.

Grimmer will conduct workshops and meetings with various government departments.

“MICE Tourism has huge potential to contribute significantly to the national economy if we all work together in identifying and bidding for MICE events.

“MICE Tourism events move large volumes of people with high disposable income and is also capable of bringing in new technologies, value addition and tremendous social change”, Tesa Chikaponya the executive director of the National Convention Bureau (NCB), said.
