The 25-year-old romped to victory in the McCarthy Toyota Half-Marathon last weekend, beating hundreds of other hopefuls to the title. The finish, secured after 79 minutes in Pretoria, ended a long run without victory for the athlete otherwise so accustomed to winning.
In an interview, Nyahora expressed excitement at finally having broken her title drought. “I feel so blessed and strong,” she said elatedly. “I am grateful to the Almighty and the good people for their love and care. I appreciate the support very much.”
She also attributed her success to long-time manager Nick Bester, the former Comrades Marathon star with whom she has worked for the past nine years. They have secured them numerous titles, particularly the Spar Women’s Challenge series and the Bestmed races.
“He helped me to fill up all the empty spaces in my life. My Life really seems complete with his company,” Nyahora said. The Nedbank and Nike-sponsored athlete also has ample support from Luwis Masunda, her award-winning athlete.
