The King George VI Memorial School form two student had legs were amputated and replaced by artificial legs constructed at the United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH).

“The artificial legs which we bought at UBH are of poor quality. Precious has reverted to the wheelchair because whenever she puts them on she complains of severe pains. She is now stressed and this is affecting her school work,” said her father Tipeyi Ngwenya.

Doctors and school authorities have advised him to source special artificial legs for her either in South Africa or Europe. “We are appealing for financial assistance to raise $7,000 which is needed for the legs. Doctors have stressed that at her age,it is unhealthy for her to be confined in the wheelchair,” said Ngwenya. Speaking in an interview with The Zimbabwean at her school, Precious said she was praying hard for the artificial legs.

“With God everything is possible. With the support which I and my family have received in the past, I am confident that God will provide” she said. Precious’s story was first highlighted by The Zimbabwean, which threw its weight behind fund raising for her medical bills and food.
