Top three year old Eversolucky retired

The sad news coming from Borrowdale race course is that top three-year-old Eversolucky has been forced to retire through injury at this early age.

The Ghokan Terzi-trained Eversolucky was forced to retire a few days after coming fourth in the Bloodstock South Africa after injuring a tendon, which does not guarantee her of ever racing again.

“There is sad news as we announce the retirement from racing of our special Eversolucky. She has injured a tendon and would require one year off with no guarantee of racing again even then,” said Eversolucky owner Gary Jolliffe.

The horse has now been offered to breeders as a broodmare and will be starting a new breeding career. “She is sound at walk and trot but is sensitive to touch and flexion.

The Vets assured us that this will settle soon and will no way affect her breeding career,” added Jolliffe.

Eversolucky had become a darling for many at the home of Zimbabwean horse racing with impressive showings and dishing out huge financial pickings to panthers in the process.

Since breaking into main field racing last season, Eversolucky won the Breeders Fillies Mile and the Jacaranda Tote Free Handicap and finished third in the Fillies Classic.

She also finished fourth in both the Zimbabwe Guineas and the Bloodstock South Africa and race goer the 51-year old Simbisai Musengezi said he would miss the top filly. “She was my favourite horse, and she never disappointed me. Every time I placed by bet on her, I won something,’ said Musengezi.

She even made her handlers proud after she beat the top three-year-olds at Borrowdale race course – Print The Pounds and Tallie Two, in the 1,800 GWM Steed. Champion jockey, Quinton Riddle, was the horse’s regular pilot.

Eversolucky’s departure will no doubt have strong effects as she had become a strong challenge to Print The Pounds and Tallie Two, the most dominant young horses at the course.

What is disheartening though, is that this hitherto promising young horse has left the course at a time she was winning more and more followers.
