Former Warriors international, Energy Murambadoro, recently expressed confidence that his club will not be relegated from the South African ABSA Premiership.

With seven games to go Usuthu is currently placed at the bottom of the 16-team log, trailing log leaders Kaizer Chiefs by 37 points and second bottom placed Moroka Swallows by five points.

Murambadoro believes that the experience and quality of players that AmaZulu have is enough to save the club from relegation. He took the place of departed Zimbabwean compatriot Tapuwa Kapini.

“With the experience and quality of players that AmaZulu have I don’t think we are going to go to the National First Division. I have only been here for a while but I have noticed how great this club is. We have a great goalkeeper coach who brings in international experience that is motivating to us as players,” he said.

“I am very pleased with our progress and the boys are doing very well so far as we are optimistic that we will escape relegation. Our remaining games are not as easy because others want to be champions while we are fighting to remain and in the PSL and that we will achieve dark or blue.

We have been working hard as a team as we are all putting our efforts in surviving the chop. Also an advantage into our fight for survival is the fact that there is competition in the goalkeeping department but one need to continue working hard and it is all about the team at the end of the day. There are two great goalkeepers in the team and I have absolute respect for each one of them,” he added.

Murambadoro also mentioned that pressure will not derail them from their survival ambition.

“I am happy that the team is not succumbing to pressure. We are treating every game just like any other games that we have played. AmaZulu is my new home and I owe so much to them. If given an opportunity I will give it my best to make sure that they remain in the PSL,” he said.

Usuthu signed “Gokwe” from Mpumalanga Black Aces in January during the transfer window period.

Murambadoro had re-joined Amaziyoni from Wits two seasons ago after he had a brief loan spell with them in 2010 where he helped them survive relegation in the Promotional Play-offs against the former PSL outfit, Limpopo-based Black Leopards.

He has previously featured for now defunct Hellenic, Benoni United and Israel-based outfit Bnei Sakhnin.
