Cabinet reshuffle surprises as Chombo leaves local government

President Robert Mugabe this afternoon announced a new cabinet that brought some surprises.

Jonathan Moyo is now the higher education minister, leaving the information ministry vacant.

Prisca Mupfumira, in charge of labour, is in an acting capacity in the information ministry.

Kembo Mohadi has been moved from home affairs to state security while Nyasha Chikwinya is now the new women’s affairs minister.

In another surprise move, Saviour Kasukuwere was shifted from environment to local government. He was replaced by Oppah Muchinguri who made way for Moyo.

Ambrose Mutinhiri replaced Biggie Matiza as the provincial minister for Mashonaland East and Ignatius Chombo was shifted from local government to home affairs.

Matiza will become provincial chair for Zanu (PF) in the same province.
