university-of-zimbabweThe University of Zimbabwe (UZ) has suspended two employees for allegedly leaking information to The Zimbabwean about Grace Mugabe’s farms supplying green vegetables and chickens.

Three weeks ago, this newspaper reported that UZ  controversially ditched small-scale farmers who used to supply vegetables and chickens and gave the orders to Grace instead.

A reliable source said this week that the university’s buyer and his secretary (names supplied) were suspended immediately following the publication of the article, on allegations of leaking the story to the press.

According to sources at the UZ human resources department, the two employees have been summoned to appear before a disciplinary committee on October 27.

“We do not know why the university’s buyer and her secretary were suspended when the Director of Accommodation and Catering services is the one who  introduced  Rodney Dangarembizi,  whom she claimed  was representing  Grace. Why are these two people being targeted – when the director, her two deputies and stores men were present when the deal was sealed?” queried one source.

Other sources say they now suspect that the director, only identified as Mai Munangwa, might have connived with Dangarembizi to use Grace‘s name to influence the university’s catering staff to buy his own products.

Efforts to get a comment from Mai Munangwa were in vain as her landline was never answered.
