The father of six, Themba Musongo (44), of Mpekema 2 village under Chief Simchembu in Gokwe North, has sent tongues wagging in the village after he allegedly impregnated his daughter aged fourteen.
According to sources, the fourteen year old victim who is in form two at a local school, experienced labour pains and complications.
In the Tonga culture, when one faces labour complications it is believed to be a curse from the ancestors for evil doing. Hell broke loose when circumstances forced the girl to expose the father as responsible for the pregnancy, a development local traditional leaders described as a taboo.
The child was reported to have revealed that Musongo, the father used to intrude into the girl’s bedroom hut where he raped her several times on different occasions. The source revealed the secret leaked while the victim was on her way to Gokwe District Hospital.
Local Chief, Robert Simchembo expressed displeasure over the incident and held him accountable for tarnishing the image of the Tonga Culture. Musongo is now in hot water after the chief demanded him to pay a black beast and 10 goats as fine for defiling his area.
“We are deeply touched by the incident, highly-touched and embarrassed because the young man in question is my nephew. It’s first of own kind to witness such a sinister conduct in my area. Those in the know initially concealing the matter, I have since alerted the police and he was recently arrested and would appear in court soon.†said Simchembu.
To the community’s surprise, the girl’s mother is reportedly supporting this bizarre act and she does not want to take action against her husband,” added the chief.
