Café Exquisite scoops top hotelier award

One of the leading and fastest growing Gweru restaurants, Café Exquisite, has received the inaugural Zimbabwe Chamber of Small to Medium Enterprise '2015 Hospitality of the Year Award'.

DSC_5373This prestigious accolade was awarded in recognition of the overall winner’s splendid services to the community. The Chamber’s vice secretary, Robson Hove described the winners as the province’s ‘flagship’, an accolade that one of Café Exquisite directors attributes to dedication and hard-work.

“It is God’s work at play, only three years into the business and Café Exquisite has managed to receive the first prize not only in Gweru but in the whole Midlands Province. It is very encouraging. We thank the organisers of the event for recognising our collective efforts. The recognition has come as a result of unity of purpose of both the workers and management,” said Mrs Tendai Masiyiwa, co-director of Café Exquisite.

In an interview, co-director of Café Exquisite, Maria Sithole stressed the importance of receiving recognition and mentioned that it inspires people to soldier on despite the economic meltdown.

Recognising and receiving recognition is critical as it promotes a company’s active participation and economic contribution, while improving the competitiveness of local catering services industry.

Minister of Small to Medium Enterprise Sithembiso Nyoni, reiterated this sentiment at the inaugural Zimbabwe Chamber of ‘Small to Medium Enterprise Of The Year’ awards. “The awards are aimed at encouraging best practices and promoting and empowering small and medium Enterprises.

Other winners include the Kwamaiguru restaurants owned by Mrs V Mhanga who also scooped up the ‘Business Woman Of The Year’ award.

The event was held at the Midlands Hotel in Gweru and attended by Vice President Mnangangwa’s and his wife.
