Gweru Residents and Ratepayers' Association chairperson Cornelius Seliphiwe was served a suspension notice pending the outcomes of a misconduct investigations against Gweru City Council running commission.

The suspension comes after an article published by one of the national daily newspapers alleges that the Mhangami lead commission has been caught a corruption storm. The article alleged that the Commission squandered up to $100 000 in travel allowances within the last four months.

In the letter of suspension in the hands of this publication Acting Director of Engineering, P.Mhangami have confirmed that the engineering worker, Seliphiwe, has been served with a suspension notice following an alleged misconduct.

Seliphiwe was suspended earlier on Wednesdays the 27th of January 2016. “You are hereby suspended from duty with effect from without pay and benefits in terms of Section 6(1) of the labour (National Employment Code of Conduct) Regulating Statutory Instruments 15/06,” read the letter.
