The raiders burnt down several houses in Maringue before members of the defence and security forces drove them away. Two people were injured in the attack, one of whom is said to be in a “very serious†condition.
No further details are yet available. Maringue housed the Renamo headquarters during the closing years of the war of destabilization. It is adjacent to Gorongosa district where Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama is currently living in a bush camp.
Why are they allowing Renamo to regroup? If the authorities know where Dhlakama is hiding, finish him off.
